Multilanguage site

I would like to create SocialEngine network website with few languages. I mean my website members will see content on language they have in settings, but not only website menu and controls. I saw the same feature in WordPress. I can add an article in English and the same in French, if visitor has English as default language he or she will see it on English(I hope you understood system). I decided to ask here, because I don’t know how to make the same in SE. Is there a way to get this done with setting or will this require serious modifications?

There are some great stand alone translation mods on the net. Here for example I would not bother with plugins for SE or editing files However you can create your own translation in SE via Language Manager in admin.

not really no....some text it's written in english...and you can't modify unless you have some strong skills in zend framework. but most of the text can be translated.
