SE Members page removal

Does anyone know of a way to remove the Members page from SE without a lot hacking, or at least not make it available? And I don't mean just removing the menu item, but making sure no one has access to it, not even search engines.

I don't understand why SE doesn't have such an option. Not every social site needs a member page, it is not really a requirement. Besides, the SE Members page is very ugly, it would be a waste of time trying to make it look and act decent. I appreciate any input you may have.

I haven't really played around with the last two versions of SE, so I don't know if this has been added. If it has, please let me know.

Thanks

The simplest way to do it is not to remove it, but to set a redirect from any profile to some particular page or area.

But I can hardly imagine community without a profile page.

I'm only planning to build a community and not an expert in SocialEngine. But how it is possible to build a social network without member profiles? I think current profile page is ok. Well... at least better than profiles I've seen in other scripts. But definitely not ugly.

Could you show profile designs you find stylish?

There simply is no way to have a social network without member profiles, but that's not my concern. I don't want to remove profiles, I simply don't want users to have access to the members page itself.
Part of the reason is because the members page could ...  more
