Integration of SocialEngine into an existing portal

we have an existing shop system and would like to add social features. My question is, has somebody experience of integrating SocialEngine into another system? The idea is to use SE not as a standalone portal but to keep the main control and rendering in our shop system and "somehow" let SE only handle the social functionality (e.g. show "who is online" below the shopping cart; when i open my profile, its embedded in the main navigation of the shop; etc).

Thanks for your help, cheers

    Hey Peter,

Could you provide details about your shop system ? Is it build on standard platform like wordpress, Joomla or any other CMS ?We might help you integrating it if you provide more details.

      Hi Kapil,
it is a proprietary shop system not based on anything (especially not Zend) except it is written in PHP5, runs on a standard LAMP stack and follows the MVC paradigm. Do you see ways to proceed anyway?

Peter, we would need to look at your system to determine the integration point. Is your system live somewhere ?
