I've had issues with Arvixe, but all technical, and their support has been mostly great. Online chat reps are worse than useless - don't even try. But the support ticket reps have been very helpful, frankly, putting SE's support to shame. And when there was a customer service problem, I found their QA was superb.

I'll be watching for performance problems as things ramp-up on my network, because I'm definitely already getting the sense that the Arvixe-SE connection is not as seamless as their pre-sale promotional material suggests. If so, my hope is that the good service I've been getting from Arvixe will continue and they will find a solution to any future problems.

Lailokken I'm using Arvixe as well. I waited 10 days for them to restore a backup from when I did the paid SE Trial through them. They were unable to restore them, and sent me back to SE who did it in 1 day. Arvixe is extremely polite.. but I'm still skeptical abou...  more

I have had nothing but problems with Arvixe and their first-line support is absolutely rubush if you need them to investigate anything in depth.

I am currently looking for an alternative service provider.

Let's be serious.  No one needs a dedicated for their social concepts. Why waste the money?  It's not like you will get millions (thousands) of members unless you have the NBT...

Business class works great. I have over 5k users, but active?  perhaps a 4th..  never a problem.. You can always upgrade, while running a live site..  test.. setup on the DED and then, copy over to get it going...

Nick I agree with Martin, test your ideas on VPS. It's not a problem to move to dedicate server later on, when you will really need it.

This website uses linode.com VPS 512 for ~20usd/month.

Though it comes without any setup, but it's probably the best start option.

You will need either to read tutorials hoe to make basic setup or hire developers to do it for you.

Arvixe for me was a nightmare.. I was using a dedicated server with them for a year and really it was a pain. To many 500 error's and a poor support and server firewall protection. Just my 2 cents :D

      Michael Carr D Lo,

I am sorry to hear of your experience. While our dedicated servers are managed, a server does take a bit of finesse to setup and optimize properly. Since you have moved on there is nothing more I can do to help you at this point but we do encourag...  more

Tiffany Lampe @Michael, I was told by SE that mod_security conflicts with their latest upgrade but Arvixe was not willing to disable the mod unless I jumped up to a dedicated server from my current plan. On the front page of Arvixe and within SE they both advertise to ...  more
